Madtown Math Matters

My experience in math, as told by a student.

Algebra 1 has been an interesting experience for me as a whole compared to the rest of my classes, and all of the other math classes I have taken in the past. It wasn’t difficult in understanding the math, but it was difficult in not being distracted, as it felt as if white noise was pouring into my ears sometimes. However, this is outshone by all the fun projects we did, especially the Semester 1 final, which I had a lot of fun planning and creating, and other projects such as fundraiser posters were also a lot of fun. Towards the end of the year, we worked on digital Portfolios using Weebly.  Having prior experience with the website it was a breeze creating my site. I found it to be a creative and interesting approach rather than filling a folder up with old papers like my other classes do. Having the portfolio available online for everyone to see made accessibility easier. The amount of projects like this kept me engaged in the class, as I am more of a hands on learner than a lecture taker. I just learn more easier and efficiently that way.

Although it was a challenge for me to focus in class I made it thus far, and I consider that a victory in my book. Overall, I was happy I got to take this class and participate in all it had to offer, from engaging projects to group activities. It was fun, and I look forward to see what the next few years of my high school education have to offer, and I am very glad I got to have Ms. Allison as a teacher this year.

I am an educator and math appears to be the language of life. I want to explore this world and help my students to find that it really isn't as difficult as they think it is.
